Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What technology have you used to make this website?

The underlying Content Management System (CMS) for this website is Omeka. "Omeka is a free, flexible, and open source web-publishing platform for the display of library, museum, archives, and scholarly collections and exhibitions."

Omeka is a project of the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media, George Mason University.

The principle web design for the site was undertaken by Light Media Pty Ltd

PHP development was done by Wigpip

The website is hosted by the Public Libraries & Community Engagement division of the State Library of Victoria

All of the public records from this site are automatically "Harvested" by the National Libraries' Trove service. This is achieved by using the Dublin Core metadata standard to catalogue our records, and the OAI-PMH protocol to allow these records to be discovered and harvested by Trove.

Can I request hard copies of the photos/images on this site?

Unfortunately Wyndham City is not able to provide hard copies of photos/images on this site. Where possible we upload all of our images in the highest possible resolution, this means you should be able to get a good quality print-out of the photos/images.

If the photo/image you are interested in is being held by the Werribee and District Historical Society, you can request publication-quality prints from them.

You can visit the website for the Werribee District Historical Society and Museum here: http://www.werribeehistory.org.au/

You can also send them an email here: wbeehist@vicnet.net.au or fill in a contact form on their website here: http://www.werribeehistory.org.au/#!our-meetings
