Captain Percy Chirnside enters his French-built Panhard et Levassor, a buggy-styled open wheeled automobile, in a race from Melbourne to Carlsruhe and back. It is likely that Percy had the first car in the district.
A retaining wall and plantings along the river and large trees scattered through a housing estate are all that remains of The Manor, a once grand house with extensive gardens.
