No. 4207 Private James Roberts
War Service
James embarked from Melbourne on 7 March 1916 aboard, HMAT A18 Wiltshire and served as part of the 21st Battalion (10th Reinforcements).
After further training in England and Egypt, James proceeded to France in May 1917.
James was wounded in action, in France, on 23 July 1918 suffering gassing and burns.
On 8 August 1918, he was invalided to Beaufort War Hospital in England. Then on 16 August 1918 was transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital in Dartford.
On 7 February 1919, James returned to Australia per troopship, Lancashire. He was discharged on 23 August 1921.
