War Service
Ernest Lewis (Louis) Berry enlisted on 11 August 1916 in Melbourne.  He was assigned to the 24th Battalion.

He sailed to England on the troopship, A71 Nestor

Ernest was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal on 26 March 1917 and then to Corporal on 12 May 1917.

In July 1917, Ernest was sent back to England due to illness (chronic nephritis) - there he spent time at King George Hospital.

In March 1918, Ernest arrived back in Australia aboard, Kenilworth Castle.

Ernest received his discharge on 27 July 1918.
